In the first half year of 2018, Brazil's trade in goods has maintained an uphill trend. According to the Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat, the trade value of Brazilian goods in the first six months of 2018 were 197.49 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 10.2 percent over the same period of 2017. Among them, exports were 113.71 billion U.S. dollars, up 5.6 percent on year; imports were 83.78 billion U.S. dollars, up 17.2 percent on year. The trade surplus was 29.93 billion U.S. dollars, down 17.3 percent on year.
