BEIJING, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Global AI Product Application Expo 2019 (AI Expo 2019) will unfold in Suzhou Industrial Park in east China’s Jiangsu province during May 9-11 this year, with its first press conference held in Media Center, Beijing, on Friday.
The upcoming AI Expo 2019 is expected to offer comprehensive display of global AI industry technological innovation as well as latest application through five main sections including main forum, exhibition, contest, award ceremony and performance.
During the press conference, company exhibitors such as Huawei, iFLYTEK, SenseTime, Beijing Megvii, and Hisense inked deals with expo hosts for deeper cooperation around the AI expo.
Last year’s AI Expo was a success with fruitful results, and through the Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation Strategy Alliance (AITISA) instructed by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the Suzhou government, the AI Expo 2019 is expected to become a bellwether for AI tech innovation, industrial development and application in China, according to Suzhou deputy mayor Lu Chunyun.
This year will present a special exhibition showcasing the first batch of five AI open innovation platforms directed by the MOST. The AI Expo is expected to become the technology achievement display and exchange platform, according to Mei Jianping, deputy head with high and new tech department with the MOST.
Suzhou Industrial Park’s sound layout and business environment as well as vigorous enterprises will make it an influential AI industry highland both domestically and internationally, said Gao Wen, chairman with AITISA.
It is noted that the new generation AI development 2018 annual report compiled by AITISA, China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency and Science and Technology Daily will be released during the event to push forward development of AI related emerging industries.
Guided by the MOST, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and Jiangsu provincial government and hosted by Suzhou government and AITISA, the AI Expo 2019 would be Suzhou's second high-profile global AI expo following last year’s event. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
