BEIJING, March 23 (Xinhua) -- China's railways have transported 356,000 passengers with 319 special trains for migrant workers from February 16 to March 21 to help with work consumption amid the COVID-19 epidemic, reported China Securities Journal on Monday quoting the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway).

Besides, a total of 108 railway projects that were under construction before have resumed construction so far, with work resumption rate reaching 93 percent and 450,000 workers resuming work, and all the railway projects planned to be put into operation this year have also resumed work, said China Railway.

It is learned that in order to further cut logistics costs for enterprises, China Railway has decided a 50-percent reduction of some miscellaneous railway freight charges during March 6 to June 30, which is expected to help enterprises and cargo owners save about 380 million yuan.

It is also learned that with the gradual resumption of work and production, China's railway freight volume has steadily rebounded.
