China to speed up development of industrial Internet

Abstract : China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a circular on promoting the accelerated development of the industrial Internet, according to a circular on MIIT's website published on Friday.

BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a circular on promoting the accelerated development of the industrial Internet, according to a circular on MIIT's website published on Friday.

China will speed up the construction of new types of infrastructure, expand integrated and innovative applications and improve the security system, the circular said.

China will encourage basic telecommunications companies to build high-quality networks that cover all prefectures and cities in China and industrial enterprises to upgrade their industrial Internet networks, said the circular.

Local governments should select one to three industrial enterprises to conduct in-depth cooperation with basic telecommunications enterprises, so as to transform their industrial Internet networks with 5G.

China will also enhance core capabilities of industrial Internet platforms. The platform will be guided to enhance the support capacity of new technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, blockchain and augmented reality/virtual reality, according to the circular.

The MIIT will select 10 cross-industry and cross-sector platforms and develop 50 key industry/regional platforms. The number of industrial agreements supported by key platforms is expeced to reach 200 on average, the number of industrial equipment connected to reach 800,000, and the number of industrial apps to 2,500.

China will accelerate the construction of national industrial Internet big data centers, and encourage local governments to build sub-centers for industrial Internet big data. (Edited by Yang Qi, kateqiyang@xinhua.org)
