BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- China will step up efforts to facilitate the integration of various subjects and quicken the pace to nurture more graduate students in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), according to a guideline released on the website of China's Ministry of Education on Tuesday.

The guideline, co-issued by the Ministry of Education, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance, urged universities to set up the interdisciplinary talent-cultivation system on grounds of basic theories and AI, and to vigorously improve the level of graduate education in the AI field.

The aim of the guideline is to provide more adequate talent support to help the country move towards the frontier of science and technology in the world and achieve major breakthroughs in the original work.

The guideline also encourages enterprises and social organizations to ramp up investment to support the development of AI-related disciplines and high-level talent training.
