February 14, 2020

Abstract : Thai Deputy PM Somkid Jatusripitak orders relevant ministries to work out measures to cope with tourism problems caused by Covid-19.

InfoQuest (February 13, 2020) -- Thai Deputy PM Somkid Jatusripitak revealed that tomorrow (February 14) Thai Ministry of Finance will host a meeting together with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Commerce to work out measures to cope with tourism problems caused by Covid-19. At this point, those affected include not only tourism providers, but also those engaging in tourism-related works. Domestic tourism programs should be launched to create jobs and income for the people.

Besides, he has entrusted Deputy PM Wissanu Krea-ngam to consider the possibility of offering consecutive holidays for Songkran or Coronation Day to promote domestic tourism.

"Adding Friday, Songkran will come with a holiday of 7-8 days; we can figure out how to add consecutive holidays to Coronation Day, which I have entrusted to PM of Wissanu," said Mr. Somkid.
