BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK) and Digital China Group Co Ltd. (000034.SZ) recently reached an agreement to cooperate in multiple fields, including telecommunication infrastructure, vertical industries, cloud computing, information and communication technology (ICT) applications and smart city development, as an effort to accelerate the country's digitalization.
In details, the two sides will carry out all-round telecommunication cooperation based on Internet Data Center (IDC) and Content Delivery Network (CDN), accelerate the creation of vertical industry application solutions and promote their replication throughout the country in the areas of government affairs, manufacturing, agriculture, fintech, healthcare, education, transportation, environmental protection, and new logistics.
As for cloud computing, Digital China will provide local operation and maintenance services for China Mobile's cloud resources pools, and deeply integrate with the latter in the development of cloud products and services, as well as SaaS applications, to better serve the needs of enterprise clients in their cloud computing processes.
The two companies will also jointly explore the construction of enterprise-level ICT applications and services, to provide large enterprise clients with end-to-end integrated solutions covering IT consulting, infrastructure, system integration, and operation management.
In the smart city field, the two sides will focus on 5G applications for urban governance and government management, through integrated innovation of 5G technology, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, big data, and edge computing.
The representative of China Mobile said at the signing ceremony that it is part of the company's development plan to vigorously facilitate the mobile cloud business, and lead the transformation with digital information and communication technology business, which coincides with the cloud strategy of Digital China to empower the digitalization of Chinese enterprises.
China's top brokerage CITIC Securities believes that the cloud business resources of Digital China have rapidly accumulated, thanks to its cooperation with Azure, AWS, Alibaba Cloud, Huawei Cloud and other Chinese and international cloud service providers. (Edited by Li Wenxin, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
