InfoQuest (August 21, 2019) -- According to Ms. Salila Tepkasetkul, director of the Department of International Trade Promotion's office in Sydney, Australia, Flannerys Organic & Wholefoods Store summarized the trend of healthy food in Australian market in 2019, and nutritionists and health professionals gave a list of 8 kinds of popular food in Australia, such as cauli-mania. Data from Nielson show that in 2018, the sales volume of cauli-mania increased 71 percent. Coming in various forms, cauli-mania is the most popular among healthy food, among which caulipower pizza base is the most well-received.

The 2nd is marine morsels like algae and kelp, another source of Omega-3 in 2019. The 3rd is Pacific Rim Foods, such as tropical fruits, including dragon fruit, passion fruit, and guava; rich in protein, dried shrimp, sleeve-fish, and Longganisa are becoming more and more popular. The 4th is Japanese flavours, such as miso, Japanese yams, Yuzu, Sansho pepper, and Ponzu. Topping, which contains ice cream mixed with miso and coconut candy, is also getting popular.

The 5th is Vegan and Faux Meat, which shows a trend of growing in Australian market. In 2018, the market size of vegetable food increased 18 percent. The market value is expected to grow into 4.2 billion Australian dollars, particularly instant food and foods that only need to be cooked with water, such as Marinated Jackfruit Massaman Curry, which gets popular because of cruelty-free eating.

The 6th is Keto craze or Keto diet, which has always been popular in Australian market. Currently, there are various kinds of food available, such as low-carb burger buns, salad bowls, and biscuits and node burritos (no packaging).

The 7th is hemp and cannabinoids. Rich in omega-3, omega-6 and protein, hemp is viewed as among the most nutritive foods. The 8th is superfood, which is getting more and more popular thanks to its high nutritive value, such as vitamin A, B, C, protein, and phosphorus. Currently, the most coveted superfood is broccoli sprouts, which are anticancer, nutritional and can help discharge toxification.

"Thai producers and exporters must follow closely and study the trend of healthy food, arrange production in line with the trend, and formulate plan to export Thai food to Australia and other markets. If the products they produce can meet the demands of Thai consumers, more export opportunities will be created for Thai food, said Ms. Salila.
