Abstract : Chinese animated film “Ne Zha” has so far grossed more than 4.18 billon yuan since its debut on July 26, 2019, leading Chinese mainland box office for 25 consecutive days, according to Maoyan data By Maoyan Entertainment (01896.HK).

BEIJING, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese animated film “Ne Zha” has so far grossed more than 4.18 billon yuan since its debut on July 26, 2019, leading Chinese mainland box office for 25 consecutive days, according to Maoyan data By Maoyan Entertainment (01896.HK).

This is the fourth in China’s film history that broke 4-billion-yuan box office and the third of achieving this in 2019 after “The Wandering Earth” and “Avengers: Endgame”.

Besides domestic figures, official weibo account of IMAX showed that the IMAX 3D version of Ne Zha will debut a few IMAX cinemas in North America from August 29 with normal version scheduled after September 6.

Loosely based on a Chinese mythological figure “Ne Zha”, the film tells a story quite different from previous cinematic works and depicts more of a mischievous boy rather than a hero kid. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
