MILAN, July 19 (Class Editori) - A television series intended for the Chinese public, and not only, consisting of 100 microdocumentaries of 5 minutes each:From Xi'an to Rome: two cities, only one world, produced by Citvc, Cabc, Chnpec, will be broadcast starting from next September on the CCTV international channel, the largest television network in the world. The project, which sees the collaboration of Roma Capitale and the support of the Italy-China Foundation, explores and describes in documentary form the various cultural aspects and the multiple parallels between two great empires and their respective ancient capitals, Rome and Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province.
According to Tang Shiding, deputy general manager of Citvc, China International Television Corporation, “Italy is a distant country only apparently. For us, making this documentary is like opening a nation's family album. This year President Xi Jinping came to Italy, no less. We focused on the cradle of Western culture, in particular on Rome, starting from our ancient capital: for us this is a project that carries within the spirit of the Silk Road.” The documentary series will also be translated into Italian, English and Arabic.
Michele Geraci, undersecretary of the Ministry of Economic Development, with responsibility for Chinese affairs, stressed that “the current government has allowed to bring China - a place in which I personally lived for ten years - back to where it belongs, both from a commercial and cultural point of view.” Francesco Rutelli, president of Anica and coordinator of the Italy China Cultural Forum, said that “Chinese people love Rome both for its history and its contemporaneity. Our strength, through this tool, is to build a dialogue and sustainable tourism. Millions of travelers will come to Rome and will see a new wave of tourists.” President of the Italy China Foundation Alberto Bombassei affirmed that “the suggestions that cinema and TV can evoke are powerful tools; this is why we have strongly supported this series, which will serve as a bridge between our two countries.”
