China sees steady oil and gas output in 2018, MNR

Abstract : China’s oil and natural gas output stood at 189 million tonnes and 141.512 billion cubic meters in the year of 2018, down 1.2 percent and up 6.4 percent year on year, respectively, according to a bulletin on oil and gas resources exploration and mining released by the MNR.

BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- China’s oil and natural gas output stood at 189 million tonnes and 141.512 billion cubic meters in the year of 2018, down 1.2 percent and up 6.4 percent year on year, respectively, according to a bulletin on oil and gas resources exploration and mining released by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR).

Basins with oil yield of more than 10 million tonnes including Bohai  Bay (including sea areas), Songliao, Erdos, Junggar, Tarim and Pearl River Mouth Basins, produced 176 million tonnes of oil, accounting for 92.8 percent of the country’s total.

Basins with gas yield of more than 3 billion cubic meters including Erdos, Sichuan, Tarim, Qaidam, Songliao and Pearl River Mouth Basins, produced 126.346 billion cubic meters of gas, taking up 89.3 percent of China’s total, MNR said.

As of the end of 2018,China had 1,027 proven oil and gas fields (746 oil fields and 281 gas fields), five shale gas fields, 24 coal bed methane fields, three carbon dioxide gas fields, with an accumulative oil production of 6.952 billion tonnes and natural gas of 2.07 trillion cubic meters.

It is noted that oil and gas (including petroleum, natural gas, shale gas, CBM and gas hydrate) exploration and mining investment stood at 63.658 billion yuan and 203.106 billion yuan in 2018 respectively, up 8.9 percent and 24.7 percent year on year.

As a result, China added 959 million tonnes of new proven geological oil reserves in 2018, up 9.4 percent on year, an increase after dropping for two years running, and it also added 831.157 billion cubic meters of new proven gas reserves, up 49.7 percent on year.
