BEIJING, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- China's hydrogen industry is enjoying a vigorous development now with related plans being issued and projects being carried out, reported the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News on Tuesday.

According to Shanghai Securities News, more than ten provinces and cities in China have rolled out plans to boost the development of the hydrogen industry.

For instance, Ningbo, a sub-provincial city in east China's Zhejiang Province, plans to build 20-25 hydrogen refueling stations, raise the number of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to over 1,500 and gather a group of influential firms engaging in hydrogen equipment by 2025, building the city into a hydrogen base with global influence.

Changshu, a county-level city in east China's Jiangsu Province, made it clear to foster the development of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry and build related industrial parks, in a bid to create a industrial cluster of 100 billion yuan by 2030.

Governments and enterprises have put particular attention on the application of hydrogen fuel in vehicles.

For example, the government of Longquanyi district of Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan Province in southwest China, reached cooperation with Beijing SinoHytec Co., Ltd (Sinohytec, 834613), an OTC (Over-The-Counter)-listed company, to promote commercial application of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by relying on Chengdu's rich renewable hydropower resources.

Besides, the world's first hydrogen fuel cell production base, located in Ningbo, with methanol as filling medium started construction on February 11. The annual output of the two-phase project is expected to reach 50,000, which will be mainly applied to new energy logistics vehicles. About 1.184 billion yuan will be bumped into the project for the first-phase construction. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
